The project addressed several Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) in the Mapleton High School/Middle School complex, and the Mapleton Elementary School, including:

Lighting upgrades included fixture replacements in gymnasiums, cafeteria, shops, and libraries.
Addition of Automated Logic controls in the high school/middle school and an upgrade of the existing Automated Logic system in the elementary school.

Along with the energy and cost savings for the buildings, the positive environmental impact of this project extends far beyond this community. Reduced energy use by Mapleton Local Schools will prevent a significant amount of pollutants from being emitted into the atmosphere each year, including an estimated:

690,476 lbs. of Carbon Dioxide
7,463 lbs. of Sulfur Dioxide
3,987 lbs. of Nitrogen Oxide

Combined, these projected energy savings are equivalent to taking 51.15 cars off the road.
