Ellsworth Hill Elementary School, Hudson City Schools
Taking Control of Energy Allows New Construction to Continue
Preliminary budgets showed that the construction project was over budget and would not come to fruition. The district's administration decided to shift portions of the scope of work from the new construction project to the energy project, consequently reducing the needed funds for the construction project - and allowing the project to move forward.
Project Highlights:
- CCG was asked to be part of the design team to ensure energy was a focus of the design of the building.
- Mechanical systems were designed, and equipment specified, to match systems and equipment being installed by CCG in other district buildings under a House Bill 264 Energy Conservation Project.
- The 33,700 btu/ft2/year energy consumption is 60% below the Ohio average of 85,000 btu/ft2/year for K-12 schools with Variable Air Volume systems.
- Hudson Ellsworth Elementary is an Energy Star Certified Building.
