CCG Companies Lead ENERGY STAR Initiative
Posted on 4/22/2010
(Richfield, Ohio) April 2010 - The EPA's ENERGY STAR program has recently released their 2009 list of ENERGY STAR labeled buildings. According to their website, CCG Companies of Richfield, Ohio (comprised of CCG Energy Solutions, Inc. and CCG Automation, Inc.) has helped 35% of all K-12 buildings in the State of Ohio earn the distinction of becoming an ENERGY STAR labeled building.
"CCG's business is focused on helping others become more energy efficient while improving a comfortable environment to work in. We are very excited to be an Energy Partner that helps school districts reduce energy cost and earn this prestigious award." said Brian Wagner, president of CCG. The follow school districts earned this distinction: Field Local Schools, Hudson City Schools, Mapleton Local Schools, Mt. Vernon City Schools, Northwest Local Schools, Rittman Exempted Village Schools, and West Holmes Local Schools.
Buildings that have earned the ENERGY STAR Award use nearly 40 percent less energy than average buildings and emit 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, offering a significantly smaller carbon footprint.
ENERGY STAR was introduced by the EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. To qualify for the ENERGY STAR, a building must score in the top 25 percent based on EPA's National Energy Performance Rating System. Only 7,736 buildings nationwide have become ENERGY STAR labeled, and just 3,077 of these are office buildings. Other buildings include supermarkets, schools, hotels, banks, hospitals, courthouses, warehouses, dormitories and big-box retail buildings.
