Cuyahoga Valley Career Center - House Bill 264 Project

Posted on 4/29/2009

After completing an energy audit in the fall of 2008 and finding that Cuyahoga Valley Career Center’s (CVCC) energy cost was substantially higher than similar sized buildings, the CVCC Board of Education has entered into a contract with CCG to implement an Energy Conservation Program utilizing House Bill 264.

By utilizing the Energy Conservation Program for the needed improvements, CVCC was able to select the contractor and equipment they were comfortable with and who they knew would do the best job for them. The program is performance-based, CCG, Inc. ensures the systems will perform as specified and have projected an annual utility savings of $193,120.  The improvements from the project will reduce utility consumption while improving comfort.

With the original building of the Career Center being occupied in the early 1970’s there was a great need for lighting improvements and upgrades to the HVAC/Controls system. Some of the Energy Conservation Measure’s (ECMs) that the project will address are:

  •     Replacement of lighting fixtures
  •     Replacement of drop ceilings
  •     Replacement of two (2) different HVAC control systems
  •     Automatic dimming lights
  •     Roof-mounted daylighting panels
  •     Heating upgrades

CVCC will be a little more “green” upon the completion of this project, setting a good example to students, staff, and the community in energy conservation.
