Polaris Career Center - Energy Conservation Project

Posted on 4/22/2010

Polaris Career Center addresses the learning environment in its 240,000 square foot building with an energy conservation project with CCG under the guidelines of Ohio School Facilities Commissions House Bill 264.  The House Bill 264 legislation allows K-12 schools to borrow money to make improvements towards energy efficiency for buildings and use the cost savings to pay back the loan.

There are several issues in the building that Polaris Career Center will be able to address through this project.  These items include a lighting, building automation, heating system, and mechanical upgrades.

The program will realize annual savings of $158,932 in electric costs, $89,423 in gas costs and $57,000 in Operational Savings. Total annual savings for the project is estimated at $305,355.

Built in 1975, Polaris Career Center, serving Berea, Brooklyn, Fairview, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, and Strongsville school districts offers career-path programs for 11th and 12th grade high school students, career-technical and special interest courses for adults, and on-site corporate training and consulting services for business and industry.
