CCG Wins National Design/Build Award

Posted on 10/14/2011

For over 20 years, ContractingBusiness.com has held a national competition to showcase some of the finest examples of Design/Build in the commercial HVAC market. CCG is proud to be announced as the winner of this prestigious award for 2011. To win this honor, contracting companies were required to submit a project to ContractingBusiness.com in which the HVACR contractor played the lead role in the design and implementation of a creative solution for a problem facility.

CCG did just that at Twinsburg High School and Fitness Center, a ten- year old building with a wide variety of comfort complaints and high utility expenses. CCG designed a tailor-made, high efficiency boiler system to upgrade their existing heating plant. The heating system upgrades included changing the heating system from a primary/secondary pumping system to a variable-primary pumping system as well as installing Automated Logic’s WebCTRL building automation system. Interior lighting upgrades in the classrooms and fitness center as well as exterior parking lots lighting were also completed as part of this project.

Six months after the completion of these improvements Twinsburg City Schools is recognizing phenomenal results from the project. Natural gas consumption has been reduced by 40 percent and electric consumption by an amazing 48 percent. The occupants in the building are experiencing a comfortable, reliable indoor environment which promotes a positive learning environment for the students at Twinsburg High School.

In order to complete this project the district implemented a House Bill 264 Energy Conservation Program to make the much needed building improvements. By implementing the House Bill 264 Program, the district was able to fund the energy project using the cost savings from the improvements. No additional taxpayer funds were needed.
