Mapleton Local Schools Approves House Bill 264 Project

Posted on 6/12/2012

Mapleton Local Schools recently contracted with CCG to implement an Energy Conservation Program under the guidelines of House Bill 264 to address several issues in several buildings, all of which are owned and operated by the district.  The buildings include the High School/Middle School complex which consists of a High School wing, Middle School wing, and Board of Education office.

Lighting Upgrades will be made in the High School, Middle School and Elementary.  Included are fixture replacements in high energy consumption areas such as the Gymnasiums, Cafeteria, Vo-Ag shops, and Libraries.

Building Automation Improvements include the upgrade of controls in the High School and Middle School, installation of Automated Logic Controls in that complex, and an upgrade of the existing Automated Logic Controls system in the Elementary school.   Upon completion there will be a single web-based automation system controlling the affected buildings.  The District plans to utilize several resources to track the performance of the project on an on-going basis.

The program will realize annual savings of $29,409 in electric costs and $22,529 in gas costs.  Annual operational savings are $5,833, or 10% of total savings.  Total savings for the project, over the 15-year term, is estimated at $861,795.
