Polaris Career Center Energy Savings Measures Exceed Projections

In December of 2009, CCG was awarded a contract with Polaris Career Center to implement an energy conservation program under the guidelines of Ohio House Bill 264. The annual projected utility savings were $248,342. One year after the project was completed the actual project savings totaled $259,683 exceeding the original estimate by $11,521.

The energy project included heating plant upgrades, installation of Automated Logic WebCTRL®, and replacement of light fixtures, drop ceilings, exterior parking lot lights, automatic dimming lights, and roof-mounted daylighting panels.

After one year, CCG reconciles their estimated savings for the project, to the savings that have actually occurred and the result is always a more efficient, money-saving system for the customer. “We are pleased with the results Polaris Career Center has achieved on this project. Not only did this project reduce energy consumption it has brought Polaris Career Center national recognition in the EPA’s Battle of the Building contest where they placed 2nd in the K-12 category,” said Brian C. Wagner, President of CCG.

School buildings that have earned the award in the past use nearly 40 percent less energy than average buildings. They also emit 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, offering a significantly smaller carbon footprint. These facilities excel due to good energy management practices, such as routine energy efficiency benchmarking.
