Dalton Local Schools Positions Themselves to Save
Posted on 7/27/2012
Dalton Local Schools’ 84,496 square foot high school and athletic complex is operating at over 100,000 btu/sq ft. per year. In order to address this high energy consumption and to improve the learning environment, Dalton Local Schools contracted with CCG to complete an energy conservation project with CCG under the guidelines of Ohio School Facilities Commissions House Bill 264. The House Bill 264 legislation gives school districts the ability to borrow funds to make the improvements and the cost savings in energy are then utilized to pay for these improvements.
Dalton High School will be completing lighting, building automation, and mechanical upgrades as part of this project. These improvements will lead to increased energy efficiency and yield significant cost savings for the district.
In addition, Dalton Local School District is applying for FirstEnergy’s High-Efficiency Energy Incentive, which is expected to yield an additional $1,240 per year in savings.
“Dalton High School will be a better place to work and to study following these upgrades. Students and staff will benefit from the increased comfort level, and the entire community will benefit from the cost savings,” said Brian Wagner, president of CCG. “It’s rewarding for us to be able to help the community address these needs and to create a better learning environment for the students." The school district will realize an estimated annual savings of $67,519.
